Illustrated.   Captain Parsons was born in 1900. A rather delicate child, with a spinal curvature.

Persistent boyhood 'daydreams' of success as an Officer, Cricketer and Racehors Owner may have stemmed from the realm of fantasy and an unhappy consciousness of an unsightly disability.

This story tells how he succeeded in his efforts to join the Royal Marines duirn the 19-14-18 war and the frsutrations and hardships he endured during those early days.   It also  relates adventures in Turkey, the South Seas, the Defence of Britain, the Invasions of Sicily and Normandy, during a career of nearly 36 years with the Colours, with Commissions in the Royal Marines and the New Zealand Regular Force on the way.

Captain Parsons became an enthusiastic Cricketer, Coach and Administrator.  He also became well known in the Catering world as an Adviser, Judge, Examiner and Writer.

He is well known in New Zealand as an Owner, Trainer and Breeder of racehorses.

In retirement, his consuming interests continue to be Thoroughbred breeding, racing and cricket.  He takes and active interest in the welfare of his fellow ex Servicemen and the less fortunate members of the racing fraternity.   He has served as President, Patron, Secretary and Committeeman of all these spheres of activity.
