The Lions  - the very name conjures up images of rugby tours fondly remembered, of players of especial skill and of teams enormously popular, on and off the field.  Mention Lions and, in the afterflow of rugby battle, names such as Gareth Edwards and Barry John, Willie-John McBride, Jack Kylke, Tony O'Reilly all come forth  .... a small taste of the roll of honour of a master class.

While this book is devoted to the exploits of combined British teams in New Zealand , from the first in 1888, it is also about the great All Blacks.  It is essentially about the confrontations between the bes of British and the best of New Zeland.

The Lions are infrequent visitors to New Zealand   - but their very value is in their rarity, the infrequency of their tours makes them all the more appreciated.  The history, the traditions, the great players, the epic matches  - this book has them all with lots of accompanying photos and illustrations.
