Translated from the Japanese by Younghill Kang, includes map and photos.  In July 1951 nineteen Japanese who, unable to believe that Japan had lost the war, had hidden for several years on Anatahan, a small island in the Marianas, were rescued by a United States Navy tug.  They were the last of 33, who swam ashore in June 1944, when their, fishing craft was sunk in an Americian attack.
