Illustrated World Atlas for Australia and New Zealand opens with a prefatory section illustrating the Earth, its historical and physical development.

In the map section which follows, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific are given foremost place, covered in 48 pages of detailed regional and larger scale maps which special emphasis on the more heavily populated areas and areas of major economic activity.  These are complemented with maps and diagrams showing such environmental aspects as climate, population and vegetation, resources and their development in land use, agriculture, minerals and manufacturing.

Subsequent pages cover Australia's neighbours in Southern and Eastern Asia, with the remainder of the atlas providing detailed regional and continental maps of Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas.

The atlas is complemented by an index of 27,000 place names, a table of the areas and populations of the countries of the world, and a geographical glossary.
