AH Reed and Eleanor Farjeon were long time pen-friends. The result of this correspondence was that in 1961 the 'Otago Daily Times', New Zealand's first daily paper, celebrated its centenary, which prompted Eleanor, then the last of her generation, to present to the city of Dunedin all the material she could gather relating to her father and herself, as well as of her literary and musical brothers, Harry H Jefferson and Herbert.
The correspondence between AH Reed and Eleanor Farjeon is extensively quoted and reveal something of Eleanor's personality and creed to be found nowhere else.
