The Holstein Friesian breed arrived in NZ in 1884 when JCN Grigg of Ashburton imported one bull and six cows from the Netherlands.   This book not only records the arrival of the Holstein Friesian breed in New Zealand and the establishment of the New Zeland Holstein Friesian Association, it also records the breeders that laid the foundation and continued to take the black & white cow from strength to strength through to today.
