Illustrated and Indexed.  Photographs by Heather Angel.  This exquisite book captures the natural scenery in all four seasons and is a tribute to the many aspects of nature.

Heather Angel has travelled throughout Britain and Ireland to take the 350 full colour photographs in this book, visiting twenty-seven British islands in her journeys and capturing scences and species in all four seasons.

She records nature as it is seen.  As a creative photographer, she uses her art to explain the intricate ways of the plants and animals of the British countryside.

Together with a team of leading naturalists, Heather Angel traces the history and variety of the landscape and then builds on to this the complex picture of Britain and Ireland's plant and animal life.

The natural history is revealed in six sections each containing full-colour maps showing where the habitats may be seen.  Following introductory essays, there are photographic examples of the innumerable species of plants, insects, birds and mammals to be found in each habitat.
