Bill Blackwood was born with cerebral palsy years before it was understood in New Zealand. Unable to write, he was taught to use a typwriter. He completed School Certificate and worked in a printing office.
In 1948, ispired by Dr Earl Carlson, a world authority on cerebral palsy, he resumed his education and completed a university degree. He marries and worked mostly as a librarian, notablly at Massey University.
Bill's story of a rich and rewarding life offers a message of hope and encouragement, not only for those with physical disabilities, but also for theose facing other difficulties and challenges in their lives.
