Reminiscences of Vivyan Dowling's life from her birth in 1915, mainly spent in South Canterbury around Washdyke, Timaru and also Dunedin. Photographs include traction engines and a tarring and sanding machine.

This gives a powerful appreciation of what it was like in New Zealand from the beginning of World War I, through the depression of the 30's until the Second World War.
