The story of the Tasman Shipping Line, an independent locally owned and run outfit that successfully traded frozen goods across the Tasman until financial constraints caused the company to close.
The rehabilitation people gave Clough Blair exactly two hours in which to find a cargo ship for sale, to muster a crew of ex-servicemen, and then think up a case for the loan with which to buy the ship and launch a shipping line.
He did it! The Tasman Shipping Company eventually had a fleet of little ships trading across the Tasman.
Finally, of course, the shoestring snapped.
This is the story of a group of Kiwi sailors who did what they experts said they could never do.
