A history of the University of Canterbury School of Engineering.  1887 - 1987

The very first graduate of the School of Engineering was the son of a bishop and he invented the mechanical totalisor.

From then to 1987, 6000 young men - the first woman to graduate was in 1965 - have gone out into the world. They have been responsible for the roads, bridges, railways, airports, ports, power stations, water reticulation, sewers and the development of cities.
