The Adventures of a Surveyor in New Zealand and the the Australian Gold Diggings
In this book, Rochfort tells of the daily life of a pioneer explorer, bushman, and gold digger in New Zealand in a most readable and lively style.
When he arrived in New Zealand he could only find work in surveying at about $2 perweek for himself, his horse and his travelling expenses. Lodgings at the time in Wellinggton were more than $2 per week.
Rochefort's book is extremely rare and this reprint is from one of only two copies in New Zealand
